Objectives

At the end of the session the participant should be able to:

  • Describe pain – subjective and types of pain
  • Know origins of types of pain
  • Use assessment tools used to rate pain
  • Know analgesia types and uses
  • Keeping your client comfortable
  • To respond if prescribed analgesia is not suppressing pain
  • Specialized referrals to manage pain
  • Somatic and phantom pain > assessment, treatment and referral options
