Goal

To equip Nurses with the theoretical concepts to safely conduct suctioning and care of a tracheostomy.


Objectives

At the end of the session the participant should be able to:

 

  • Understand the indications for tracheostomy
  • Communicate effectively with clients with a tracheostomy
  • Prepare for and perform the procedure
  • Demonstrate awareness in policies & procedure guidelines regarding the tracheostomy
  • Demonstrate skill in  suctioning & care of a tracheostomy
